This was a gorgeous read, full of grounding thoughts on productivity culture - even at times of rest! I think I *am* going to do my reflections for the year (using Susannah Conway’s Unravel Your Year) but I’m not entering 2024 with a list full of goals. Just a heart with some hope, and a similar wish to you to keep practising my writing, keep showing up here with something 🤍
That sounds wonderful, Emily! I too am learning that simply showing up is such a big step that we sometimes take for granted. We’re in this together! 🤗
I haven’t done Unravel Your Year but it’s on my bookmarked list! Perhaps next year...
I loved this read. I’m also finding it hard to make lists or set goals this year. I did that forever--and of course I have some work tasks that have to get done. But personally I just feel like living in the present, encountering life as it comes.
I love that, "encountering life as it comes." That's exactly it! It's hard to really experience life when we're constantly making lists and planning ahead. Glad to hear you are also leaning into the 'drift' this year. 🙏
Christina! What a beautiful human you are, I hear such trust in yourself through these words. I so loved our coffee together this week and your writing serves to remind me how beautifully interwoven our personal questions, reflections, reading and listening lists are. Wishing you a nourishing, intentional and spacious end to the year and looking forward to an IRL coffee in 2024 💚🙏🏻🕯️🍄 ps. this Sam Cooke song 😍
Thank you, Stella! ☺️🙏 I'm always adding books to my reading list based on what you post on Instagram 😅 Interwoven, indeed! I also loved our coffee this week, really looking forward to meeting in-person in 2024. Big hugs and a restful end of year to you, too! 💚✨
I found solstice in reading your reflections today, Christina. Every December, I take a few weeks to unplug from the digital world and enter into a cocoon of quiet and slowness. This ritual always brings a deep sense of clarity that I might not otherwise receive if I am distracted by the busyness of making plans. Happy to know you're partaking in this same ritual with me, enjoy the slowness of it all 💛
Thanks for sharing, Ash! That sounds like a wonderful ritual. I'm very happy to be joining you in this slow ritual, so nice to know that others are doing the same! I, too, expect that it will become an annual thing for me. 💚

🙏 Thanks so much, Luisa! I’m glad you found my rambling thoughts useful. I look forward to lots of writerly rebellion next year! 🤗
